A vigorous storm system that spawned over 20 twisters yesterday and that has prompted the Storm Prediction Center to place the SEARK at a "moderate risk" for seeing severe storms over the next 30 hours, is poised to move into the region later today.
So, what can residents of this area expect? Ac to the National Weather Service (NWS), any storm that occurs could produce large hail and damaging winds- that is almost a given with this particular weather setup. Isolated tornadoes are also a possibility, especially late this afternoon and on into Saturday. Heavy rain amounts(1-3 inches) are also possible.
One thing that could help inhibit thunderstorm development is cloudy skies most of the day. Without sunshine and daytime heating, the development of storms could be stymied to some degree. But if the sun breaks through, "Katie bar the door", as the old saying goes.
