IT is beginning to look as if April will wind down with threats of severe storms and potential heavy rains-and May will begin the same way.
A storm system similar to the one which created havoc across the mid south last weekend, will begin affecting the SEARK by Thursday. With low pressure moving into the Southern Plains tomorrow and the high hanging tough in the Southeast, the strong pressure gradient will cause southerly winds of 15-25 MPH to be common. Temperatures will climb into the 80's and tomorrow night's lows will fall only into the mid 60's.
As the cold front tries to move into Northwest Arkansas (it will more than likely stall out temporarily), showers and thunderstorms will break out by the afternoon. Some may be severe and could produce heavy rainfall. That is Round Number 1. There is more-at least two more rounds-probably more.
Unsettled weather will continue into the middle of next week.
The extent of the severe weather we may experience will be better known, as more model data becomes available tomorrow (Friday) from the Storm Prediction Center.
