Time has been very precious this week and has not allowed me to share my thoughts about the impending weather. I hope to do better this upcoming month!
With the passage of the cold front this morning, the mercury has been slowly falling all day, from the lower 50's to the current temperature here in north-central Drew County of 39 degrees (9:15pm) .
Forecasters and meteorologist have been busy all week trying to pinpoint "who" is going to get "what" and "how much" of "it" they are going to get. The system has slowed up considerably from previous forecasts, which has delayed the onset of the winter storm. I keep asking myself, is this going to allow the cold to advect down at a faster pace than their blessed weather models can determine? This batch of arctic air is quite shallow, having a difficult time passing over the mountains to our northwest. Cold air sinks of course, and will follow the path of least resistance. As beautiful as those hills are in the fall, they really do us snowbirds "down south" a disservice, when it comes to allowing the cold to come down in a timely manner! It has to "go around by Laura's house" to get to us! Snow is one thing but, freezing rain is not on my Top Ten Weather Events! I can do without ice.
Anyway, anticipate rain and lots of it by tomorrow. Some freezing rain possible by the afternoon, which could turn into sleet and snow by evening, with little or no accumulation (hopefully). Unless we get a SEARK surprise......
