Wednesday was partly to mostly sunny day in the SEARK with temperatures averaging 15-20 degrees below normal for highs. The arctic high that slammed into the area yesterday, bringing with it high winds gusting over 40 MPH at times, continues in control of the region, blasting our region with some of the coldest temperatures thus far this winter.
Cold temperatures will continue through the rest of the work week as another round or two of disturbed weather skirts to our south. Chances of light snow and/or sleet will enter our forecast late Thursday and continue into the day early on Saturday. Currently, only light accumulations are expected in the immediate area, with the most expected along the ArkLaMiss border region.
A welcomed, but brief warm-up is expected late in the weekend before another storm system affects the area early next week. And just like last week, it will usher in another Arctic outbreak for the middle of next week. At this time, precipitation types are not etched in stone, but there is a possibility that we could get some more snow again next week.
