Due to numerous hit and miss showers yesterday, intermingled with sporadic sunshine, it was a very sultry evening last night in the SEARK, with temperatures hanging tight in the mid to upper 70's.
Our weather for the next 12-18 hours will be influenced by a wave of low pressure moving out of the southern plains into the Mid South this evening. This, along with numerous outflow boundaries hanging around from yesterday and last night, will produce a 5 out of 10 chance for thunderstorms today and tonight, with the biggest question being, just how far south will this precipitation reach into the SEARK?
Current radar is showing 3 distinct areas of thunderstorms, with one of these, just moving into Western Arkansas near the Mena area. All of these are moving in an easterly direction.
Once this wave departs the area, look for a rapid rebound in temperatures the next couple of days, to the mid and upper 90's, flirting heavily with the century mark!! We are entering the climatologically "hottest period" of the year in the SEARK.
ONLY 72 days until the official start of Fall-and I can hardly wait!!
