While the Mid-Atlantic States were getting ready for an impending snowstorm of large proportions, those of us in the SEARK and the Midsouth were enjoying sunny skies and mild temperatures for December standards.
This weekend will start out cool and remain that way through Sunday.
Next week could be a very interesting, without all the excitement of the upcoming Christmas holidays. A storm system is expected to form out in the Four Corners area of the U.S. and, depending on which computer weather model you believe, we could have either chances of wintry precipitation or chances of severe weather. Even the folks over at the National Weather Service are scratching their heads:
"A MUCH ACTIVE LONG TERM THIS PERIOD...WITH THE PREVIOUS CHANCE OF WINTER WEATHER TURNING MORE INTO A SEVERE WEATHER EVENT. CONFIDENCE IS LOW IN EACH SCENARIO...WITH MODELS HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME IN POSITIONING OF THIS UPPER LOW PROGGED TO MOVE THROUGH IN THE WEDS/THURS TIME FRAME. GFS NOW HAS LOW FURTHER NORTH AND FASTER...KEEPING THE FA WARMER WITH AN INCREASED CHANCE OF SEVERE WEATHER. THE ECMWF...ON THE OTHER HAND...SHOWS A SLOWER SOLUTION WITH THE LOW FURTHER SOUTH. IF THIS PANS OUT...A BETTER CHANCE OF WINTER WEATHER WILL BE IN STORE...LASTING THROUGH THE WEEKEND AS MOISTURE WRAPS AROUND AND INTERACTS WITH THE COOLER AIR MASS."
More on this, as we get closer to said "event".
