Where is the Cold and When Will it Get Here?

Although temperatures have cooled the last 36 hours, there is really no Arctic air in our forecast-yet. Hey, it's the middle of November and most areas in the SEARK haven't had a killing frost- much less a freeze!

The real cold air in the northern Hemisphere is where it is suppose to be-in Siberia! But Alaska would beg to differ. In many areas of Interior Alaska, temperatures are in the 30-50 degrees below zero range- abnormal for this time of year but not unusual. That cold air is beginning to ooze slowly southward and by Thanksgiving weekend the upper level pattern will shift and we may begin to get a taste of some of that air in a modified form.

At the writing of this blog, it was a frigid -20 in Fairbanks, AK-going down to a forecast low of -30! Oh, by the weekend they will be up to a balmy 17 degrees!
