You have been hearing about it for over a week now. It has been “tweeted” about, discussed around the water cooler/coffee pot and been the source of dread for school administrators as well as highway crews. A major winter storm is taking shape and is forecast hit the area by Wednesday, bringing with it some of the coldest night time readings of the winter.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm should start impacting the Drew County area around noon Wednesday. As far as accumulations of snow are concerned-significant amounts could fall. This is the way the National Weather Service (NWS) sums it up:
“THE BEST CHANCES FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE GENERALLY SOUTH OF A HARRISON TO NEWPORT LINE...WITH HEAVIEST AMOUNTS GENERALLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF A CLARKSVILLE TO LITTLE ROCK TO MONTICELLO LINE.”
The snow should taper off Wednesday night. Temperatures are expected to fall into the mid teens by Thursday morning and will be slow to rebound(kind of like the Hogs of late) until Friday.
