HOT! HOT! HOT! For the Next Several Days

Hot and humid conditions continued across the SEARK region Saturday, as a large dome of high pressure centered over the mid south shows no sign of breaking down anytime soon.

Temperatures officially reached the century mark for the first time this year in Arkansas and Monticello shattered the record high for the second consecutive day, making it up to 100 degrees. The old record high of 96 was set way back in 1891.

More record-breaking heat will be possible the next several days. Today looks to be our best chance for a pop-up thundershowers this week. With such hot and humid weather persisting, people are urged to drink plenty of liquids and take frequent breaks when working outdoors. Heat Index readings will be over 100 and could approach the critical 105 temperature in some areas.
